Towards the end of my first keg I got tired of estimating volume by lifting the keg and so I bought a flow meter. Once installed, I started dumping my consumption stats to a database. As a result, I’ve been able to get some fun stats for my Guinness consumption. At least my at home Guinness consumption. This doesn’t include pints I had at bars.

First up, some graphs

Guinness at 8 AM? I’m not opposed but I think the explanation here is that I needed some Guinness for cooking. I work from home so Guinness in the 16:00 hour (4-5 PM) is mostly due to that first beer at the end of the work day. I’m not sure why I drink less in the 17 and 18 hours before ramping back up at 19. Perhaps I tend to be busy preparing dinner at those times and then 19:00 is the after meal pints.

Next, a look at how my consumption varies by day of week

This is one of the few datasets where a pie chart is useful as there are only 7 segments

I’m surprised that Sunday ekes out Saturday for the day that I consume the most Guinness. But I probably shouldn’t be. NFL games are on Sunday and I’m a Giants fan. I don’t think you can watch that team sober.

Now a look at each month

I didn’t pour any Guinness at home in November as I was on vacation for about two weeks. I kicked my previous keg at the end of October and I couldn’t source a new keg until early December. I definitely had my fair share of pints in November, they just weren’t at home.

For most of the year March was (quite expectedly) the month that I consumed the most Guinness. With about 1385 ounces consumed. I tapped that particular keg on the 21st of February so it was almost an entire 50 litre keg consumed in March. I finally managed to beat that during the holidays. I poured all 50 litres between the 3rd and the 29th of the month. This actually surprised me because there were four days during that span where I was out of town for a long weekend (where there was also quite a lot of Guinness consumed). Here’s my consumption chart for that keg

Finally, some overall kegerator stats

If you do the math, I’m not using 20 ounces for a pint. Even though I use 20 ounce glasses, I find that after accounting for head I usually get 17 to 17.5 ounces in the glass.

Also, my “Soberest month” throws out months with no consumption. So my zero ounces in November 2025 are not counted there.

I’m not sure what took me so long to finish my fourth keg. Looking at my consumption chart for that one, there weren’t a lot of days with zero consumption. But on the days that I did pour Guinness, it was usually a smaller number of pours.

These stats aren’t exact. There’s some calibration and rounding involved. But 500 or so pours of Guinness in 2025 gives me something to try and beat in 2026.

At the end of 2024 I finally built a kegerator to pour Guinness at home.
