I just used the Ads2 (or is it Foxx) nitro faucet for the first time. Because of a misunderstanding, I ended up using a much cheaper Krome faucet for my first two kegs. Here are my initial reactions:
- Maybe it is all in my head, but the more expensive Ads2 faucet feels better to use. The handle feels snappier with less wobble.
- Both faucets drip a little after the pour, requiring either a catch cup or something to wipe up the spots.
- Both faucets also leak flavor into the beer, requiring a run off for the first beer of the day if you don’t want a slightly metallic taste.
- The Guinness pours faster out of the Ads2 faucet; with a head that is smaller in height but more dense. There are less visible bubbles. This may be due to the different aerator discs. Both discs have five holes but the Krome faucet has these closer to the outer edge of the disc. And they may be slightly larger. Here’s a photo with Krome on the left and Ads2 on the right:

I will have to adjust my pour to account for the difference. But first I want to test the different aerator discs and find which one I prefer.
